Hardly anyone has heard of this small rodent. Perhaps this will change soon, because this tiny mammal living in the island of Bramble Cay, from which it derives its name (Bramble Cay melomys - Melomys rubicola), may be the first victim of climate change taking place faster and faster on the planet.

Back in the late '70s of the last century, hundreds of these rodents inhabited the island, which is part of the Great Barrier Reef. The researchers decided to examine the impact on the species have changes on the island under the influence of global warming and raising the water in the ocean. To this end, since 2009. They mortgaged the island traps and assembled cameras. However, despite many searches have failed to catch or observe a single representative of the genre. This prompted researchers to help reach a rather grim conclusion - all rodents belonging to this species simply died out.

Most likely the direct cause of this is the increase in the level of water in the Pacific Ocean. It leads to a reduction of drinking water resources in small islands and this causes drying of vegetation and violent contraction of areas habitable by animals. In addition, the island is slowly absorbed by the ocean. At the Bramble Cay in the last 10 years, the area fit for habitation by rodent shrunk by as much as 97 percent.

However, the steady rise of water in the oceans threatens not only to rodents. More and more of the islands of Oceania struggling with this because of prolonged periods of drought. Already in April this year in Palau introduced a state of emergency because drinking water supplies dwindled there so much that within a few weeks it could fail. To address the problem, state authorities considered the possibility of importing water from distant island countries - Japan and Taiwan.

Almost every great extinction was associated with a significant and violent global warming. When the oceans will warm declining oxygen content in the water mass and begin to grow anaerobic bacteria, producing hydrogen sulfide. It kills life based on oxygen in the oceans, and the anaerobic zone will reach the surface of the water, hydrogen sulfide is released into the atmosphere and kills life in counters. These are facts well known, tested and documented, readable marks the causes of these disasters present in the fossil record Unfortunately, this knowledge somehow can not get through to the consciousness of public opinion not to mention the people in power. Our civilization ruled by ignorant already initiates who again will turn the Earth into a gas chamber. "Point of no return" has already been exceeded long since been observed in Siberia hitherto explosions of methane trapped in permafrost. Methane warms the atmosphere Okola 20 times more effectively than carbon dioxide. This is what the letter will be pifiuuuu, bzdziuuuuu and behind.

Already a few years ago found that 'global warming' does not exist ... there is for 'Climate Change'. I went fishing and did not catch any. He decided that all extinct by water pollution. Is my conclusion is equally as scientific researchers?
