Today, the second day of Easter, treated by the Polish Catholic Church as a continuation of the feast of the Resurrection of Christ.
Monday customarily intended to visit extended family and friends, while Easter Sunday is spent in the company of loved ones. In the folk tradition known as śmigus-dyngus or cast Monday. Once there were two distinct habits – śmigus meant Scourging rods on the legs and thighs, and dyngus – dousing with water and collect donations which Easter “ransom.”
In many countries, including Poland, for a long time – to XVII century – celebrated Easter for three days. Dyngus lasted two. On Easter Monday men exposed to water sir, and on Tuesday, called the third celebration of Easter – Mr. spilled over men.
In the cities benefited from Śmigus-Dyngus very modestly, spraying Miss most rosewater.
