Windows 10 Mobile – Mobile-ups beginning of the end? – Gadzeto Mania

It’s no secret that Windows Phone can not cope best on the market. Although interesting models, promotional campaigns, various giveaway and rich portfolio of devices “for the people” share this platform can compete at most of the less popular Linux distributions. Is the Prime Minister Windows 10 Mobile this change? Hopes are great, but I doubt it.

Back to the roots?

Not really, more of an attempt to revive the legendary brand and build on sentiments users who warmly mention of Windows Mobile . Then, indeed, the WM platform was interesting proposition for businessmen who could make use of smart phones, and the competition was not as strong as it is today. However, times are changing, and though hardly a democracy wise, however, the figures speak for themselves – Windows Phone shares are melting and windows mobile user loyalty is contrary to appearances, limited.

Only every fifth visitor reaches the CM again WP smartphone. This result is much worse than the iOS and would like to return as much as 78% owners of iPhones or … Android, which again picks up 82% of holders. Is the change will help the brand here? And can build on the positive connotations associated with users of Windows 10 on desktops? I doubt it. Why? Because Microsoft did not learn from mistakes. And not just on his own, but for others.

We do not have the application – let’s take it from iOS and Android

One of the biggest ills of Microsoft’s mobile platform is the lack of applications. Why does not? Because developers do not want to write on a platform that has a few per cent of the market. And why has only a few percent? Because there is no application. And why not have the app? And here we come full circle. The recipe for this state of affairs is to be able to easily porting applications from competing platforms to W10M. It’s fun? Only apparently.

First, it does not make you suddenly wants developers to move applications on this platform. It will continue because it was associated with a dedication of time and resources. Second: portion of the application uses the native APIs, eg. From Google Play , therefore making them fully usable on Windows Mobile would necessitate the use of another, cross-platform API. Is someone will want and profitable change application architecture? Probably not – again, it takes time and resources, and the business there is no room for sentiment.

Third since Microsoft itself acknowledges that its platform sucks and wants to use the application on Android and iOS, then why bother? It’s easier to simply buy a smartphone with Android or iOS-em than to play in the prosthesis on a platform that is unlikely to offer anything more than what the competition. Unless offer what the competition, because looking at the Windows Phone’a it is not quite so obvious again. Fourthly? BlackBerry also thought that fills a gap in the store with Android applications. How it ended? That’s right – even in Linux such as Arch and Gentoo are probably more shares than BB.

Windows 10 – a system doomed to success? I’m not so sure …

It would seem that it needs to go. Microsoft has restored adored by all the Start Menu, recovered from split personality (unsuccessful mix of Modern UI with the classics), he gave all the system for free and, most importantly, it is “every second”, and so the good and usable Windows. But I doubt whether the new window will be successful tailor-made Windows 7 or XP. Why? READ MORE

The situation could save universal applications. They may, but need not. Why? Firstly, because even Microsoft itself can not write them properly. Who took for the use of Windows 10 on your desktop knows that they do not overthrow functionality, and for this they have a lot of bugs. Secondly, most of the WM handsets will be powered by ARM processors, so the traps will probably not too much. And even as Microsoft will release a pocket computer with x86, you probably will not achieve a success. Why? Because it will be expensive and available only in a few markets.

We have time! Really?

Shares WP8 swoop down and Microsoft have at hand Nokia’s mobile division can not improve the situation following the example of competition. flagship Androids go out once or even two times a year, warming fans of technological advances and effectively draining their wallets. iPhones also see new at least once a year. Microsoft while engaged in the launching the next, barely running zetafonów and the latest flagship offer this brand is … the beginning of last year and the logo of Nokia. Even Technological nerdowie already forgotten about its premiere.

And something covered with a layer of dust in the minds of users, what are the chances of a brand new flagship competition for exacting performance ? Not too big, even if its price is quite attractive. The smartphone is almost like a roll – most prefer warm and crispy, even if it is 2 times more expensive than the day before yesterday, perhaps even too stale. Here Microsoft, however, does not show off and give you something that suited supposed to eat, but it is doubtful whether in the middle of no mold, which is growing much faster than its OS.

Another issue is the tool for developers. Apparently they want to make it easier to move applications from competing platforms, but at the same time delaying the delivery of the final version – work on them is still going on. How long should we wait? The market gives a clear signal – we must act. Not mentioned here, however, about the game on delay and promises , but with real products. And those still not there. But time passes and the situation is not improving. And if WM suffer a defeat, it is the tardiness will be one of its causes.

What next for Windows Mobile?

CEO of Microsoft, Satiya Nandella, further believes that Windows Mobile can succeed. And no wonder, in the end is the Executive Director and it’s obvious that he must motivate the team and demonstrate self-confidence. But I have serious doubts about the future of the mobile version of Windows. No one seems to deny that Microsoft slept moment when smartphones belonged to the masses. Now, when shares of WP are negligible difficult to re-establish competition. Of course there is still a chance that the development will accelerate, developers will rush to WM and marketing will do his, but let’s be realistic – this scenario is not too big chances success.
