As part of a project initiated by the Castrol Drift Virtual Strong Titanium for the first time driving a real car combined with virtual reality.

Run by Matt Powers (one of the top drifters from the US) Ford Mustang Roush Stage 3 defeated route created in virtual reality, and cut off from the real world, only the driver can see it on the screens goggles Oculus Rift. The film documenting this test is available on the YouTube channel Castrol EDGE (www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9YR4_vH7EM).

Interactive helmet with goggles integrated Oculus Rift prevented observation of what is happening in front of the hood. Displayed on screens goggles route was changing rapidly; so must have been extremely quick driver reactions to falling rocks, sudden mountains, tunnels and slippery slope.

Titanium Strong Virtual Drift is the second of the “Test Titanium,” or a series of events for fans of motor sports. In the car used motor oil Castrol EDGE strengthened by the addition of Titanium FST. It is the most technologically advanced and most durable product Castrol. “Tests Titanium” have to show, with the burden which must cope motor oil under extreme conditions.

Goggle Oculus Rift DK2 update the image 75 times per second. In the car they monitored everything from the steering angle, the rotation speed of the wheels, to the position of the dampers and the gas pedal.
