This camera does not need batteries – it feeds the same image – Virtual Poland

class=”clr”

This record, although it looks dull, is in some ways revolutionary. Because it made a prototype camera that it does not need batteries.

The innovative camera is the work of engineers from Columbia University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science, who have come to the conclusion that both photovoltaic cells and photosensitive arrays operate in a similar way – so you can try to combine them into one. This is how the experimental image sensor, which can dynamically switch between video recording and generating electricity. Simply put – the camera recorded it feeds the light. The inventors are the first such invention in the world.

– In the past, projects have been proposed matrix, which could generate energy – says prof. Shree K. Nayar, who led the team who works on the device. – However, our prototype is the first demonstration of a video camera which feeds itself.

After exposure to light individual elements of the matrix switch between image recording mode and mode of generating electricity. It works well enough that the camera is able to record images with a resolution of 30 pixels at 40 frames a rate of one per second, while generating enough electricity to sustain its operations.

Although if the invention is only a prototype, already has a lot of potential. Just to mention industrial cameras that the action would not need access to the electricity grid or as an additional source of energy for our gadgets. For these reasons, it can be expected that the invention will soon be of interest to anyone who wants to spread it.
