 A European space probe landed on a comet

Once the first ever spacecraft landed on the surface of a comet. Philae lander settled on the comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko – confirmed by the European Space Agency (ESA), the leading Rosetta mission.

The landing maneuver was started about 9.35 Polish time when the Philae lander was released by the probe Rosetta near the nucleus of the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Stukilogramowego probe Philae landing was successful, a confirmation signal reached Earth at 17.03 and caused great joy among scientists and engineers gathered at the European Space Operations Centre ESOC in Darmstadt.
