Price band for LTE starts from 1.6 billion z? - GazetaPrawna.pl

This decision ends speculation about the possibility of building a LTE network for all operators. This solution advocated Polkomtel, which fears that the new frequencies of its main rivals Orange and T-Mobile, which cooperated with the Networks, LTE will offer high-speed internet better than the Plus network operator. UKE indeed encourages the construction of a common network, but telecoms will be able to do it voluntarily.

Office tried to work out a compromise. On the one hand, preserved limit of bandwidth that can be purchased bidder in the auction, combining them with already available resources. In practice, this means that the group Polkomtel will be able to bid on only one block of frequencies in the 800 MHz band. On the other hand, Orange and T-Mobile, if they win the auction, will be able to build a common network, but acting only on the part of the purchased bandwidth. UKE limited because sharing of frequencies up to 15 MHz with 20 MHz, which can be purchased together these operators. – This provision raises our concerns. Introduced artificially limited administrative interconnection obviously reduce the potential of LTE – says Cezary Albrecht, director of the department of strategy and regulatory affairs at T-Mobile. In his view, set a limit at a level limit consumers to benefit from high-speed data networks.

As regards the other conditions of the auction, UKE decided not to major changes. As previously announced, the sale went five blocks of spectrum in the 5 MHz of the 800 MHz band and 14 in the range 2.6 GHz. The first are valued at 250 million z? each. In the second case UKE wants to get one block of at least 25 million z?. This means that at a moments notice auction starting price for the sale of the frequency was set at 1.6 billion z?. Bidders will be required to begin using the frequencies and offer commercial services within 12 months from the date of service of booking frequency bands 800 MHz and not later than 36 months from the date of service of booking frequency 2.6 GHz band.

UKE issued a decision yesterday, in which outside the auction block grants Sferia 5 MHz frequency range 800 MHz. In this way, the records office completed an agreement concluded in August this year between the Ministry of Administration and Digitization and the operator of the group Zygmunt Solorz-Zak.
