Microsoft bought Nokia! What could this mean for the giant from Redmond? - Gazeta.pl

Nokia shareholders have agreed to sell to Microsoft Devices and Services division Finnish company. The transaction value is approximately 7.2 billion dollars – enough to pay Microsoft for the acquisition of Nokia responsible for the construction and production of phones. This move makes it the most popular mobile phones with the operating system Microsoft – the Lumia and Asha – fully passed under the control of Redmond.

question is what next? It is still unclear exactly what Microsoft is going to do with those obtained in this way brands. So far, cooperation between the two companies were close, but for obvious reasons, could never exist between the free flow of information. For now, Steve Ballmer has confirmed that this acquisition will simplify cooperation and allow for a clearer naming phones – bizarre “Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 1020″ a thing of the past. It is possible that Microsoft is moving to set up in direct competition to Apple’s iPhone. Having control over both the operating system and devices, will gain an advantage over scattered across all brands of Android phones and can end Windows Phone will become the real alternative to the two giants of the mobile market.

The transaction is also a return to Microsoft’s former head of Nokia, Stephen Elop. It can be assumed that together with Nokia chose the Redmond giant has bought a new boss, who soon will replace Steve Ballmer.
