Internet from the balloon, the Google project Loon - PCLab.pl

While the in Poland expect a very cheap internet with satisfactory performance, in other parts of the world is no small concern to the global network access at all. Construction of adequate terrestrial infrastructure in sparsely populated areas is not very profitable, even in countries that can not be called uncivilized and satellite links are for many consumers too expensive. According to Google the solution to this problem might be to build a network of transmitters situated on … balloons drifting in the high altitude atmosphere.

One of the research projects, which is a giant of Mountain View – Loon – recorded in the last days of considerable success. After one year of work on New Zealand managed to create a network that allowed to connect to the internet people convicted so far for satellite links. The transmitters were placed in the stratosphere, 20 km above the surface of the earth – hung under the balloons filled with helium. Each of the balloons was 15 m in diameter and 12 meters high, and in addition to telecommunications equipment transported solar panels that can deliver up to 100 W of power. A single unit was able to cover a network of 1250 km 2 .

Areostaty communicate with spaced 100 km ground stations, which transmit a signal to end users. They are also connected to each other, so you do not all have to be within range of ground-based transmitter. Data transmission takes place on unregulated (and therefore exempt from fees and independent local operators) ISM band (2.4 and 5.8 GHz), and the transfer rate was comparable to that offered by 3G networks.

Why balloons and why up to 20 km above the earth? Google says that the stratosphere is the perfect place to “anchor” transmitters. To reach anything on this amount does not need to use expensive in construction and operation of rockets. Regular air movement in the party atmosphere can drift transmitters in a very predictable manner and at the appropriate number in the network should not happen to a “hole”.

In a preliminary test is for 30 balloons, which provide access to the Internet 50 recipients. Google Plans, however, go much further – the company wants to send into the stratosphere 300 transmitters that will drift along the 40 parallel, extending not only over New Zealand, but also the southern part of Australia and a huge area of ??South America. If the experiment is successful, probably will be built next “rings” on the other areas of the planet.

Network Launches in the clouds (or rather above the clouds) is not an entirely new idea. A similar approach would take advantage of the owners of The Pirate Bay (but for entirely different reasons). While a small Swedish company dragged through the courts by the defenders of copyright has little clout, which is an international corporation Google will realize their plans … Of course if you turn out to be profitable.

smartphone in your pocket, tablet or laptop in the bag, “smart” TV on the wall, thousands of songs in a device smaller than a matchbox, movie rented from home, playing with a huge number of people from all over the world and Finally, a few clicks to information from all continents. First evil called computers, then called evil works gained internet. The era of digital media and the web began 20 years ago. What have we achieved? Today, a computer and a global network are no longer treated as two incarnations of evil. Their combination, however, has created new ones.

is easy to see that now almost anyone can create their own tablet (though not everyone should). Every moment of the depths of nothingness market emerge previously unknown brand, and there have been reports that as tablets take a company known for something completely different phones and smartphones. For the latter group is undoubtedly iriver – known manufacturer of portable music player. What stands out for its tablet, ITQ701, the background of the sea “Chinese”? Mainly the fact that this is not another cheap equipment Rockchip processor, and only … another with Tegra 3

Asus AiCloud is a set of services with new routers this company. Easier to share data across the network, the backup in the cloud and use the Internet resources gathered in a local network.

processor is the heart of your computer. When performance is not enough, not only complicated tasks are performed slowly, you can not wait any longer, for example, to open the program. Additionally, the graphics card has a decisive impact on the number of frames per second in games. Today – as the “end of the world” – present a great test of processors from AMD and Intel. Great, I were in the 160 models, each of which has been described 52 results. If added to the measurements in the settings cranked up, the total result is 12000! You will not find a larger test of processors. Which is the best for gaming? Which is the best value for its price? Which one should I buy in different price ranges
