 Polish Mars rovers are flying to the United States

Games will be held in late May and early June. This year, 14 teams have signed up with the U.S., Canada, Polish and India. Poland will be represented by three teams.
SKNL Rover Team of Rzeszów University of Technology is the author of Legendary Rover jeep – equipment moving on six wheels, with independent suspension and electric power. It comes with two interchangeable keypads for different tasks, it also has four cargo platform for astronauts. Vision system, GPS, and reliable communications module allows smooth and precise vehicle handling in the difficult desert terrain.
Another vehicle, Scorpio III , was the university. Each of the six wheels is driven by a separate motor. The design is based on an aluminum frame, which should bear the hardships of the competition well in the desert. Jeep is doing very well in the field thanks to its joint design that enables better turn and run into the high hurdles. Modernizatio n are also very lightweight wheels of the design grid. One pair of wheels is, however, soft and made of durable material (Cordura), filled with powdery granules. This allows the robot, going even after an uneven surface, free of vibrations for the rest of the structure.
The competition will also Hyperion by the team from the Technical University of Bialystok. This vehicle has six independently powered and controlled wheel articulated manipulator, global positioning system and vision. It is fitted out in the desert, sandy and rocky and may even overcome elevation inclined at an angle of 50 degrees. During the competition the desert will “look” of life forms, perform engineering tasks and provide assistance to injured astronauts.
– Teams will be competed in five competitions, including drive the rover in the field, sampling, panel engineering services and support astronaut – says Robert Lubanski of the Mars Society Poland.

The control is based solely on the basis of the image transmitted from the rover’s cameras and data received from its deck. Landscape resembles that of Mars. Poles did not compete in the competition for the first time. In 2010, the third place was taken by the rover Magma joint effort of students from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toru? and Bialystok Technical University. During the competition a year later Bialystok college students turned out to be the best in the competition thanks to the Magma machine 2 Young engineers from Wroclaw took the fourth, and Torun – sixth.
